Are you also committed to sustainability in your private life?

I am not only committed to more sustainability in my professional life, but also in my private life. Among other things, I have installed a solar power system for myself, including an interconnection with battery storage. Further projects are in the planning stage.

Why is sustainability important to you?

So that the next generations have a better future and are well off.

It only benefits people to strive for a sustainable lifestyle - both in terms of health and being able to greatly reduce the costs of daily life in some aspects.

What do you do to convince the construction equipment operators of your cost-cutting measures?

I make my colleagues aware that there are only benefits to be gained from these measures, and I explain them. Driving in ECO mode not only protects the environment, but also improves everyday working life - for example, by reducing noise pollution, which also has health benefits.

As a Foreman, you are generally responsible for ensuring that everything runs smoothly on the construction site. What does your day-to-day work look like and what skills do you need for this job?

Important qualities for a Foreman are stamina and a professional appearance. My tasks include site inspections and conducting construction meetings as well as site preparation. I have to assign employees to their respective areas of responsibility, keep an eye on material stocks and place orders, approach neighbours if necessary and hold talks with them. Very important is the ability to react to short-term problems and to look for solutions efficiently.

You are writing a novel about your time at STRABAG. What is the title?

The title is STRABAG Matrix. Every construction site has its own laws - adapting to them again and again is what makes everyday work so exciting for me.
