Gerald Kappel
Current position:
Site Manager in road construction

Where did your interest in the construction industry come from?

My interest in the construction industry was sparked by my father and grandfather. Both of them were bricklayers. Through the training at the HTL I then got the chance to enter Construction Management.

Where do you work and what are your tasks?

I work in road construction and am a Site Manager for concrete and bridge construction. Here, I oversee construction projects from the bidding phase through execution to final acceptance. In costing, it is exciting to find resources or synergies in order to obtain a costing advantage. In the execution itself, it is the quality and the satisfaction of our customers that we  take into account to ensure an error-free and defect-free acceptance at the end.

That's what I like about STRABAG

No day is like any other! Problems always arise that have to be solved. At STRABAG, I have the opportunity to further my personal development as well as to work in different business areas.

  • With my team, it is important that we are honest with each other. If errors or problems occur, we discuss and solve them immediately. We can rely on each other.

 I recommend to applicants ...

... not to throw in the towel right away when problems arise, but to persevere. Site Managers should be flexible, have the courage to make decisions and stand behind them.

What are your strengths?

Flexibility, perseverance and solution orientation
