Linda is studying Online Media Management in Stuttgart. She became aware of STRABAG through a friend who also works for the company. And a lot has happened since then! She tells us herself what happened next:

How the application process went

"When I discovered the job advertisement on the STRABAG careers page, I knew immediately that it would suit me! Just a few days after my application, I received an invitation to an interview. I was a bit nervous at first, but the open atmosphere quickly took the edge off. The recruiter, the team leader and a colleague from the department were all there and they were all really nice. I was given a clear insight into the tasks and day-to-day work.

As I had already done a lot of research into the subject beforehand and was really keen on the job, I was delighted to be accepted! After that, everything went smoothly: Clarifying the general conditions, going through the forms, signing the contract. And from then on, I was looking forward to my first day at work!

My first day at STRABAG

Even before I started, my team leader gave me important information about the team and an induction plan. So I was able to prepare myself well. On my first day, my buddy gave me a warm welcome and showed me my workplace. During the tour of the building, I got to know the team and other colleagues. Then it was time to set up my workstation. The clear process descriptions helped me to log in to the systems quickly.

After the lunch break, which included a round of Mario Kart, I started on my first small tasks. In between, I occasionally had meetings with colleagues or my team leader. We talked about my start, my interests and expectations and about future tasks.

I also quickly got to know the team and their tasks. All in all, it was a great start and I felt I was in good hands.

My first week at STRABAG

After the successful start on the first day, things got off to an exciting start: I got to know my team better and gained a deeper insight into my area of responsibility and the Group. In personal get-to-know-you meetings, we not only talked about projects, but also about interests and development opportunities. This helped me to feel welcome very quickly.

Thanks to structured induction, clear processes and helpful tools such as guidelines and e-learning, I quickly found my way around, both digitally and in the building. After a few days, I already knew where the most important places were, from my workplace to the VR area.

  • I particularly liked the fact that my interests were taken into account. At STRABAG, it's not just what you can do that counts, but also what you're passionate about.

The surroundings also contribute to a sense of wellbeing: The modern building offers quiet workplaces, places to retreat and areas for fun. Thanks to good public transportation connections, the way to work is also super relaxed.

I'm really happy that I joined STRABAG. A great team, clear processes, exciting insights and an environment in which you can develop. What more could you want?

What concerned me at the beginning

Of course I had a few worries before I started. For example, whether I would fit in well or whether the tasks were too complex. But that quickly subsided. Thanks to the open approach in the team, the intensive induction and a clear induction plan, I felt well looked after from the start and never overwhelmed. On the contrary: I was taken seriously and was able to hit the ground running.

My second week at STRABAG

Two weeks at STRABAG and it already feels amazingly familiar! After the orientation in the first week, I was able to really get going: I've taken on my first tasks of my own, which I'm allowed to work on independently. Of course, I still have questions, but my team is super supportive and I can turn to anyone at any time.

The exchange with colleagues from other countries was particularly exciting this week. Everyone was open and friendly, and I realize how enriching international collaboration is. My daily routine is also becoming clearer and clearer. I'm getting a feel for which topics are important and how I can structure my day well.

I'm also finding my way around the office now. I continue to get to know lots of new colleagues during my lunch break and am getting better at recognizing faces, names and areas of responsibility. Cohesion is also growing noticeably within my own team.

After week 2, I can say that I have arrived. Because I'm taking on my own tasks, finding my place in the team and my day-to-day work is getting structure. And the best thing is that I feel like I'm not just working here, but that I can really help shape things."
