Pioneer in sustainability and digitization
Thanks to major investments in recent years, the Saalfelden quarry is now one of the most modern plants in Austria. Not only, but also in terms of energy efficiency. With the innovative operation in the quarry - the in-house production of electricity as well as the resource-saving transport solution - I see us as a pioneer in terms of sustainability and digitalization.
The entire plant site relies primarily on material transport by means of conveyor belts. Our products are transported in silos and can be loaded directly onto trains or trucks from there. This means that fewer wheel loaders and trucks are used for the operation, which not only saves fuel, but also minimizes noise and dust. Since the purchase in 2006, continuous and sustainable investments have been made in the development of the quarry. As a result of this investment, the quarry's CO2 emissions have been reduced by around 30% per ton produced over the last five years.
In my position as commercial group manager, I am responsible for ensuring day-to-day business and compliance with internal specifications on the one hand, and for the results on the other. All of this is done in close cooperation with the Technical Group Manager, who is responsible for ensuring technical operations as well as sales. I, as the commercial group manager and counterpart to the technical manager, am more or less the person who takes care of all the commercial aspects of the projects in the background.
In addition to the day-to-day business, the focus is also on optimizing processes, and always according to the LEAN.Construction methodology. This is because the top priority for the Group is sustainable mining planning and raw material extraction, as well as efficient raw material management. We like to work according to the four-eyes principle so that we can critically scrutinize ourselves in order to move forward and become better. It can only work together as a team if you want to develop something further.
