Esma is a technician at STRABAG and not only an expert in her field, but also a passionate role model for the empowerment of women in traditionally male-dominated industries – beyond gender stereotypes. With her commitment at STRABAG and beyond, she is a role model for women in the technology sector.

Esma, aged 26, is a civil engineer and is currently working on a major construction project in Vienna's 22nd district. She has found what suits her perfectly. She loves being on the construction site, interacting with people and making a difference. Through her work, she is helping to shape the future of Austria and that fills her with pride.

Esma is actively committed to encouraging women to pursue their passions in STEM fields. As an ambassador for Fem* in Tech, LEA Role Model and integration ambassador for Zusammen:Österreich, she goes above and beyond her professional commitments to open the way for other women. She firmly believes that women can and should play an important role in technology.

At school workshops and events such as the FIT (Fem* in Tech) information days, Esma shares her experiences and insights to inspire young women and girls. She talks about topics such as the gender pay gap, gender equality and the importance of female role models in the tech industry. Through her personal story of challenges and successes, she conveys a strong message of hope and empowerment.

  • Young people are very important to me because they form our future. Unfortunately, I didn't have any role models when I was at school and have had a challenging path, which is why I know that many young people can identify with me.

Esma knows from her own experience how important it is to have role models. As the first female academic in her family and with a challenging path to her dream job, she has overcome obstacles that might put many women off. But she is proof that with determination and perseverance, anything is possible.

Through her work as a workshop leader, expert and speaker, Esma leaves a lasting impression on everyone she meets. She shows that women are not only welcome in the tech industry, but are also urgently needed. Her commitment and passion make her a true role model for women in technology. Esma proves that with courage and determination, anyone can find their place in the world of technology. Her story is an outstanding example that dreams can be realized if you don't lose faith in yourself. She advises everyone to try as much as they can, but not to stress themselves and to give themselves time.
